Tug-of-war

Based on the above art prompt by Shweta Ektare and Bullock Cart Poetry

We desire to escape gravity
To spread our wings and fly away
To not be bound by anyone or anything
To be free
Yet,
to feel rooted
To be wired to and to have
something to call home
To have our people
To have the one
To propagate
To settle

We desire to have secrecy
To keep our own little world safe
To document, fold, cover and seal it
Yet,
to have connections
To  speak and listen
To share one's world with others

Are we a mess of contradictions?
or is this what makes us human?

Wings can be clipped
Wires can be cut
Seals can be broken
Connections can be disconnected
What would we be then,
without our game of tug-of-war?
